Climate Change emergence presents local change in terms of local variability by looking at how climate distributions (usually temperature) move relative to underlying local variabilty. This talk will present recently published results for three of the main climate scenarios, across the CMIP5 ensemble. The talk will also discuss extensions to this work, such as emergence for other variables, other disaggregations (such as seasons, months, and locations) and potential policy relevance. Finally the talk will conclude with some speculation about the relationship between cumulative emissions, emergence, and the functional forms that govern climate change.
