The Marine Sensor Systems group at the University of Oldenburg, Germany

Professor Oliver Zielinski, Director, Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM), University of Oldenburg, Germany

Professor Zielinski is in New Zealand under a Royal Society New Zealand catalyst fund project. He will give an overview at research in the Marine Sensor Systems group at the University of Oldenburg, Germany, which has projects on:

Multispectral sensors for biogeochemical parameters and marine pollutants
Autonomous long-term sensor and observation systems
Methods for quality assurance of time series data
In situ imaging for detecting spatiotemporal distribution patterns of plankton and particles
Description and quantification of biogeochemical and hydrodynamic exchange processes
Coastal Ocean Darkening

Measuring water quality and coastal habitats using drones

Daniela Voss, ICBM, University of Oldenburg, Germany

Daniela Voss will introduce the NIWA and ICBM catalyst fund project to develop systems for measuring water quality and mapping shallow water habitats using drones (unmanned aerial vehicles). She will present some recent drone footage showing 360° camera deployments in the Auckland region.
