Remakery. An opening

Date/Time
Date(s) - Sun 3 September
9:00

Location
Remakery, 310 Waiwhetu Road, Lower Hutt

The Common Unity Project is excited to invite you to the public opening of our new Remakery space.

We’ve been busy over the past 3 months converting the old plaster moldings factory, started by Fred Biggins in 1943, into our new hub of food distribution, remaking, enterprise and collaboration. The Remakery is a celebration of what is possible in our neighbourhood and aims at developing skills thru working together to inspire others to do the same.

The ReMakery is home to many wonderful projects including the Urban Kai Project, Sew Good sewing co-operative working with Refugee women to recycle donated fabrics into cloth carry bags as a plastic alternative, Recycled rides fixes and distributes donated bikes, Beeple Honey Collective project which harvests local honey, Unity Kitchen catering, Koha Coffee supported by Supreme Coffee, the Phoenix Project using recycled wood to teach building and carpentry skills to build furniture and tiny houses and skills development collaborations with Rimataka Prison, Housing New Zealand, CYFS Residential care home in Epuni, Epuni School and Lucid Dreambike.

We invite you to come and get to know our new home in a celebration of the potential of people and place.

Join us on Sunday 3rd September for a day of open workshops and share our vision of a waste free, people powered, community owned future!

Delicious local food will be available thru our unity koha kitchen
