Your favourite mountain, beach, or river depends on strong conservation law to be protected. Many of our treasured wild places are only thriving because of strong legal protections that conservationists have fought for decades to secure.

Conservation law protects the wild places that make us New Zealanders. The Conservation Amendment Bill makes substantial changes to this crucial protection for nature, including:
• potential sales or disposal of up to 60% of public conservation land,
• opening the door to mining and other forms of development “to the greatest extent practicable”,
• allowing more “amenities areas” on conservation land with minimal controls on development, and
• concentrating power among Ministers and reducing the voice of iwi and local communities.

At the webinar: Forest & Bird advocacy staff and lawyers will talk you through the Conservation Amendment Bill and answer your questions.
