More information

The Ministry for the Environment funded 15 councils to undertake a total of 21 feasibility studies on nature-based solutions (NbS) for flood mitigation. This cohort of studies tested hypothetical nature-based solutions options against different flood events, in varying catchment types, and with local communities.

WSP, with funding from Auckland Council, has undertaken a review of the projects’ final reports and held interviews with project teams to summarise the studies’ varying approaches and findings as well as identify emerging common practices and themes. The review aims to inform future assessment and implementation of NbS in Aotearoa.

This webinar will cover the review findings, including an overview of the assessment approaches and methodologies, stakeholder and mana whenua engagement undertaken, key findings from the studies on effectiveness for flood mitigation, broader feasibility considerations and co-benefits, and outlook and recommendations for the sector.

Presenters: Annika Min, Isabelle Farley, Liam Foster, WSP.
