More information

Throughout our lives we collect memories and keepsakes but we also leave behind digital traces through social media, online accounts, cloud storage and more. These digital possessions remain after we die, raising new questions about memory, inheritance, privacy, and mourning. In this talk, the speakers will explore what digital legacy and digital afterlife mean, what we intentionally and unintentionally leave behind, and what happens when family members inherit our digital collections. They also discuss how technology changes the ways we remember loved ones and experience grief. Join them to explore how we can shape our digital legacy in ways that help preserve memories, celebrate lives, and support those we leave behind.

Presented by Maja Krtalić and Jennifer Campbell-Meier of Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, School of Information Management & Wellington School of Business and Government.

This event is a collaboration with Victoria University Wellington and is part of special programming to celebrate Te Wiki Kaumātua Seniors’ Week.
