Come along and plant ngaio, tī kouka, harekeke and other native species in the valley alongside the Wainuiomata River. In a few years’ time it’s going to look very different so if you’d like to be part of the team restoring this location, Greater Wellington would love your help
This planting day is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of physical activity, as you’ll be carrying plants and digging holes. This is not suitable for young children and recommended for 13 years and above.
There is a toilet in the carpark. No dogs are allowed in this park.
What to bring/wear:
Sturdy boots or gumboots
Long sleeves and pants, and a waterproof jacket are essential.
Layering and wearing a hat or beanie is a good way to stay warm.
This site can be very exposed, so it is a good idea to bring a spare change of clothes.
Feel free to bring your own favourite spade and gloves.
Bring your own water bottle, lunch, and snacks.
Greater Wellington will provide:
Plants and planting tools, gloves.
An experienced team leader, health and safety management and training.
