Inaugural lecture by Professor Ben Ruck
Join Professor Ben Ruck for an inaugural lecture exploring superconducting computers, semiconductors, magnets, and other fun with physics.

Description
Professor Ruck will describe his adventures in condensed matter physics, which have recently led him to seek ways to help enable next-generation ultra-fast computing based on superconductors. This technology promises to greatly reduce the environmental impact of our online activities, but new materials with exotic properties are needed to make the components that will allow these systems to work. He will describe his work on an exciting candidate set of materials, the amazing, rare-earth nitrides.
