SUMMARY:Exceptionally preserved fossils: insights into the history of life.
A talk by Derek Briggs *WGTN or ONLINE*
DESCRIPTION:Talk by Professor Derek Briggs \nYale University \n\nThe import
ance of exceptional preservation in revealing the history of life on Earth
is widely recognized. Different environmental settings yield soft-bodied
fossils at different times through the fossil record. Selected examples il
lustrate the importance of these discoveries in revealing various facets o
f life in the past. \n\nBio: Derek Briggs is the leading expert globally o
n the preservation and evolutionary significance of exceptionally preserve
d fossil biotas\, ranging from Cambrian arthropods to colour patterns in d
inosaurs. He is the G. Evelyn Hutchinson Professor of Earth and Planetary
Sciences and Curator of the Peabody Museum at Yale University.\n\nOnline:
