DESCRIPTION:\n\nJohn Brooks is a microbiologist\, specialising in food micr
 obiology. On graduation he spent a period of time working at ICI UK\, help
 ing to develop the methanol-based Single Cell Protein process. He did a Ph
 D in biochemical engineering at Sydney University\, continuing his work on
  C1 metabolism. He then took up a position at Massey University\, teaching
  food microbiology\, and remained there for 30 years\, eventually concentr
 ating on biofilm research. After a period as Visiting Professor at Hong Ko
 ng University\, and Professor of Food Microbiology at Auckland University 
 of Technology\, John is now retired and holds the position of Adjunct Prof
 essor at AUT. He has consulted extensively for the food and process indust
 ries and is a Fellow of NZIFST. John was elected New Zealand Microbiology 
 Society Orator for 2015. His Safe Food blog has received 210\,000 hits so 
 far. He owns microTech Services Limited\, a consulting company with wide r
 anging interests\, both in the food industry and aviation.
