Speakers
Professor John Windsor, acclaimed pancreatic surgeon, researcher and entrepreneur
Prof Windsor is a scientist, entrepreneur and leader in developing innovative solutions to enhance patient safety and recovery. Prof Windsor will take us through some highlights of his research into the commonly and potentially fatal disease acute pancreatitis to show how elementary, clinical and bioengineering science have combined to advance patient outcomes around the world.
Associate Professor Gary Cheung & Dr Rosemary Frey, experts in the End-of-Life Choice Act 2019 and improving palliative care
This pair of distinguished researchers have made substantial contributions to medical research, particularly in the areas of mental health and end-of-life care. Together A/Prof Cheung and Dr Frey have conducted comprehensive studies into the implementation and impact of the still relatively new End of Life Choice Act 2019 in New Zealand. They will share their findings, giving invaluable insights into the impact and experiences of assisted dying for health professionals and the families involved. A/Prof Cheung will also touch on aspects of his research into the mental health of older adults, including dementia and depression, while Dr Frey will explore the psychosocial aspects of end-of-life care.
While the event is free of charge, AMRF are a charitable foundation and ask you to consider making a donation to continue supporting them to empower researchers and transform lives.
