Lord Howe Island is a small, remote, subtropical island between New Zealand and Australia that has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Despite its small size it has a wide diversity of habitats. Over 40% of its vascular plant species are endemic, with the remainder largely shared with nearby landmasses, including New Zealand. Lara and Leon will give an introduction to Lord Howe Island and its plants. They will also provide an overview of their fern research on the island and how it contributes to understanding New Zealand ferns.
