Date/Time
Date(s) - Fri 20 June
5:30 - 8:00
Location
Wellington waterfront by Whairepo Lagoon, Wellington
Celebrate the start of Matariki by coming down to the Wellington waterfront pre-dawn and see the planets Pareārau (Saturn), Kōpū/Tāwera (Venus), Te Marama (the Moon), and Matariki (Pleiades) in our skies.
If you want to gaze in wonder at Saturn, Venus, the craters on the Moon, look through the Wellington Astronomical Society’s amazing telescopes! They can show you where to find Matariki too, but binoculars are better so if you have a pair bring them along. The event is child friendly and free!
Please note they will postpone the event to Saturday if the weather is uncooperative.
If you want to support the Society by becoming a member, please go to https://www.was.org.nz/join-us/
By registering now it is half price for the rest of the year.
