SUMMARY:Metabolic control of influenza virus infection. A seminar by Mustap
ha Si-Tahar *IN PERSON or ONLINE*
DESCRIPTION:Malaghan Institute seminar\n\nMetabolic Control of Influenza Vi
rus Infection\n\nInfluenza remains a global health threat\, especially for
high-risk populations. Beyond classical antiviral and vaccine-based strat
egies\, host metabolic pathways offer a promising alternative. In this tal
k\, Mustapha Si-Tahar will present recent findings from his lab on the imm
unomodulatory and antiviral properties of endogenous metabolites. These mo
lecules not only reduce inflammation but also impair viral replication\, o
ffering dual therapeutic potential. Our data open new perspectives for the
development of host-directed therapies against influenza virus infection.
\n\nBio:\nMustapha Si-Tahar is the Director of the Research Center for Res
piratory Diseases (CEPR)\, located in Tours\, France. He oversees the cent
er’s activities\, which encompass 4 INSERM research teams and approximat
ely 90 staff members\, and also serves as deputy-leader of the “Pathophy
siology of Lung Infections” team. He earned his Ph.D. in vascular inflam
mation from the Pasteur Institute in Paris in 1997\, then completed postdo
ctoral training in mucosal innate immunity at Emory University (Atlanta) a
nd Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston).\n\nDr. Si-Tahar joined the Fre
nch National Institute of Health (INSERM) in 2001 and continued his resear
ch at the Pasteur Institute\, focusing on key sensors and signaling pathwa
ys involved in lung epithelial responses to bacterial and viral infections
. In 2012\, he relocated to Tours city to establish the CEPR. He has exten
sive expertise in lung epithelial-driven innate immune responses to influe
 nza virus.\n\nMicrosoft Teams\nJoin the meeting now \nMeeting ID: 493 267
