This work in progress talk will explore migration humanities as a crucial
contemporary discourse about pluralism and social justice, related to health
humanities, spatial justice, and epistemic justice. Discussion of text-based
narratives about human mobility will include public narratives reflected in policy
and media; personal narratives of migrants, migration as a theme in contemporary
fiction, and using a migration lens to explore challenges such as climate change and
housing insecurity. There will be ample opportunity for discussion of how these
topics present in Aotearoa and Asia-Pacific contexts.
