This property was originally held by the Crown as an alternative route for the Kāpiti Expressway. Now planned for housing, large areas are protected SNAs including an area of mostly intact mānukā/kanuka fen which is unusual on the Kāpiti Coast.
Species of note include Scrambling Coral-Fern (Gleichenia microphylla) and Fork-leaved Sundew (Drosera binata). Time can also be spent determining the presence of Kunzea robusta and/or Kunzea amathicola.
Meet: 9:30 am at entrance of Te Rā school. Park at the QEP entrance and cross the road, please don’t park at the school. If travelling by train a pick-up can be organised from Paeākāriki Station, or walk 3.6 km/50min from Paraparaumu Station.
