Zealandia and Explore Your Coast are celebrating Waitā and our oceans this Matariki, so let’s dive beneath the surface and explore Wellington’s Blue Belt – no snorkel required!
Using virtual reality headsets, take a few minutes these school holidays to see the underwater world through the eyes of a scuba diver: swim through the deep reefs of Kapiti Island, be surrounded by schools of fish at Whitireia Park, glide through the lush marine forests of Taputeranga Marine Reserve, and explore a shipwreck! Expect close encounters with octopus, vibrant sea life and even a cute shark with the team from Explore Your Coast!
This free, drop-in event is suitable for the whole family and will be held in the Zealandia Visitor Centre Foyer. Regular admission fees to the sanctuary apply and overflow carparking is available at Birdwood Street during the busy school holiday period.
