Title: VACCINES AND IMMUNOTHERAPIES TAILORED FOR T CELL IMMUNITY
Prof Ian Hermans
Professor Hermans will provide an overview of the latest research from the immunotherapy group. This will include background and recent updates on mRNA vaccines tailored for T cell-mediated liver immunity for infectious diseases and cancer. New cancer models and new immunomodulatory drugs to combine with cancer immunotherapy will also be discussed.
Bio
Research background in antigen-presentation and T cell stimulation, with an emphasis on developing T cell-based therapies, including vaccination, in vivo immunomodulation and adoptive T cell therapy. Holds intellectual property for several T cell-focussed therapies and vaccines and has been a senior investigator for several clinical trials of immunotherapy in cancer patients. Established a GMP manufacturing facility for the manufacture of cell-based immunotherapies and more recently involved in the establishment of a local research pipeline for RNA-based vaccines and therapeutics.
