Genomics Aotearoa Friday Seminar Series

Genomics Aotearoa Friday Seminar Series:

Dr Megan Leask (University of Otago) will be presenting A Love Affair with the Non-Coding Genome

Speaker’s introduction
Kia ora! I’m Megan (Ngāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe), a genetics nerd, proud Southern Māori wahine, and someone who spends an unreasonable amount of time thinking about the parts of the genome that everyone else ignores.

I lead the ENHANCE (Equity iN Health and Non-Coding Elements) Lab at the Ōtakou Whakaihu Waka, where my team and I explore the “hidden genome”, all those mysterious non-coding regions that quietly influence gene regulation and complex disease. Importantly we focus on the non-coding regions of the genome in Māori and Pacific people.
